Egg Cell Project
This project was an interesting project, it came after 6 other projects and 14 homework assignments. The point of this project was to see how osmosis works. Osmosis is the processes of displacing water throughout our cells. We set the project up by putting 4 whole raw eggs in 4 separate cups of vinegar. We kept it in the vinegar for 48 hours. After 48 hours, the shells had dissolved and we took them out of vinegar and put two in corn syrup and two in water to see what would happen to them without the shells. They eggs in the corn syrup shriveled up because they had no water and the eggs in the water expanded because they had so much water.
The 21st Century skills I used in this project were: Information skills by writing down and recording what happened and then submitted the information to Ms. Wilson via the internet. I used communications skills, but communicating with Ms. Wilson about what I could do if I did not have all of the proper supplies for the project. I used self directional skills by doing the problem on my own at home. I used thinking and problem solving skills by figuring out how to complete the project with limited vinegar.

Honey Creeper Project
In this project we wr0te a six paragraph essay in first person format, from the perspective of one of the Honeycreeper bird. I chose the Akikiki. Our essays had to be about our life in Hawaii: what we eat, where our habitat is, and how it has changed over the years. We also had to discuss how many of my species are left and where? We had to discuss ancestry, showing how we adapted from our ancestor. We had to also discuss what threatens the Akikiki and how we are becoming more endangered. After we wrote the essay we had to turn it into like a news article or magazine story and then present it to the class. I thought we had to make a slides presentation, which we later found out had to be in google format and so I had to redo it and resubmit it as an article instead of a slide presentation.
The 21st century skills I used were Global awareness, because I had to demonstrate an understanding of the global and cultural impact of the different areas of the islands on the honeycreepers. I also used some civic literacy because I had to see how the impact of tourism or increased population and building impact the natural habitats for the honeycreepers. I used informational skills because I had to research data about the Akikiki, find articles and understand the resources as well as put together my essay and presentation with adding pictures and charts. Lastly I used self-direction skills as I had to monitor my pace and needs for the project because it was split into 3 sections. I had to set time frames for me to complete the 3 steps and prepare to present it to the class.
