Socratic Seminar
For this task we had to come up with 2 claims, one claim is on a topic that we have gone over in class. For example, people back then lived better lives than we do now. Then we had to find evidence to support our claims. Then the other claim can be on anything we want, my topic was a little too controversial for the class, so I didn't share it.
The 21st century skills I used for this assignment were Communication Skills I used this skill by effectively listing and responding to each of the claims the other students made in my group. I also used Global Awareness by talking about the early humans and how they lived based on text and passages given to us by Ms. Terry. Using Information Skills, I applied a relevant topic of information from the class and also used my own research for my own claim. Lastly, I used Thinking and Problem-Solving skills in an interesting way, I thought to myself after reading the room and understanding the type of claims the other kids had I thought my claim was too strong and would upset way too many people, so I decided to withhold my claim from the class.
The thing I'm most proud of is my personal claim I think it showed intelligence in a topic that's very hard to talk about. I'm also proud that I am able to read rooms and understand the atmosphere or the vibe of the room. One thing I could improve on is my responses there were short and consist very to the point. It helps a conversation if you talk more freely.
